The YCA selects its 80 participants from high school-aged students who have auditioned live or by recording. It is recommended that singers in the vicinity of audition sites schedule a live audition. Students accepted into the Youth Choral Academy are expected to be participants in their school music program.

Fees and Facts

The Youth Choral Academy fee is $375. You'll receive:
  • Tuition, music, and other related expenses for ten days of YCA rehearsals and workshops, June 26-July 6 in Eugene, Oregon.
  • Lodging and meals at Barnhart Hall, a University of Oregon dormitory. You'll be paired with a roommate. Each room is modestly furnished, including bedding, daily towel service, private bath and telephone.
  • The food's great! Meals are cafeteria all-you-can-eat style, and selections include a salad bar, a variety of entrees (including vegetarian), desserts, and beverages.
  • Free tickets to Festival concerts, including the Mozart Requiem conducted by Helmuth Rilling.
  • Discounted tickets for your family to the YCA concert on July 5th.
  • Special events like a July 4th barbecue and an ice-cream reception following your headline concert.
  • The official YCA/Nike polo shirt. A vibrant, colorful addition to your wardrobe!

A $50 non-refundable deposit is due upon acceptance. Fees are due in full upon upon registration. Checks and most credit cards are accepted.

A limited number of YCA scholarships are available. Please let us know if you have any questions about fees.

Please note: transportation to and from Eugene is the responsibility of the participating student.
